Energia Limited has also made a significant impact on local content. In the past five years of operation, it has patronized and encouraged the development of community-based contractors and service providers. These contractors are involved in various aspects of the company’s operations. The company encourages members of its host communities to set up businesses to take advantage of opportunities available in the industry by participating as contractors in Energia Limited various field development projects. In 2012 and 2013, Energia Limited facilitated the formation of Ifogat (in Emu-Ebendo) and OY Galant (in Obodougwa-Ogume). These companies enjoy sustained business patronage from Energia Limited. Presently, Ifogat has successfully executed a series of multi-million Naira construction contracts, while OY Galant has a running flow station perimeter maintenance contract. It is expected that in the near future these companies would have grown enough to offer their services to the larger Nigerian business community.
